Student posts (2)

One more for my collection (http://yetanothermathprogrammingconsultant.blogspot.com/2010/09/student-mails.html):

Bonjour,

Je viens de voir votre blog sur la programmation linéaire. En fait je débute sur GLPK et je voulais
vous poser la question: comment exprimer une condition dans une contrainte?
J'ai utilisé if mais ça marche pas.

Merci d'avance.
Cordialement,

Actually I understand enough French to understand this, but nevertheless it is somewhat indicative of how little effort is being employed before sending emails around asking for help.

  1. Too bad you're not at a university. It might be entertaining to provide an answer after a colleague had translated it into, say, Swahili.

  2. A rough Google Translate, for the non French speaking (like me) :

    Hello,

I just saw your blog on linear programming. In fact I started and I wanted to GLPK
ask yourself: how to express a condition in a constraint?
I used but if it does not work.

    Thank you in advance.

  3. @Bo: Com' on. As someone who once worked in France you really shouldn't need to use Google Translate for this three-liner.

  4. @fbahr He he, there's a perfectly good reason for that, which is not suited for public posting :-)
